Dear Members,
We hope this email finds you well. Firstly, we would like to thank all our junior members who have competed for the tennis club this last season. We hope you enjoyed playing against other clubs in the area.
We would also like to thank Matt Welsh, who has had the very difficult task of managing all the teams for some years. We are now looking to share the responsibility among individual team captains, with any overriding issues coming directly to Beci, the tennis club manager. But we thank Matt for all his hard work and dedication to the teams over the last few years.
This season, we intend to make the way the teams are run easier for players and organisers alike, with a clearer structure at the beginning of the season. We plan to do this by:
- notifying all players of exactly when all the matches are scheduled for
- nominating a team captain for each team
- giving each team captain an order and list of players who are eligible to play in their team (along with seeding information and LTA numbers)
- offering support to the captains so they know exactly what to expect on match days (both home and away)
If you are interested in playing for the teams, kindly send an email to Beci: tennismanager@wltc.co.uk and ensure you include:
- players name
- players DOB
- players LTA number - if you are not a member of the LTA, you can join, for FREE here: https://www.lta.org.uk/register/
- if you have coaching at the club, please give us the name of the players' coach
- contact telephone number which can be added to a group Whatsapp
Please note that in order to play for the teams, players must be confident in all areas of the game, this includes but is not limited to:
- scoring
- calling the ball out
- knowing the rules and etiquette of the game
- being kind and considerate to all opposition and team mates
- being gracious in victory and in defeat
Any players seen not abiding by the above, will not be asked to play in future matches.
Please note that players will be chosen based on rating, ranking, experience and availability and is at the discretion of the team captain.
All matches will take place between September 2024-March 2025, the exact times and dates will be shared with the relevant parties once they have been confirmed by the LTA.
