New Manager at WLTC - Beci Lee & Jack's Leaving Reception

Message From Mark Player, Chairman:

We are delighted to announce Beci Lee will be the new Club manager, starting on 20th May 2024.

We all know Beci from the coaching team having been with us for nearly 10 years now which gives her a unique insight to the role and the culture of the club. Beci has all the attributes the committee felt were required to succeed in the role.

We are having a leaving reception for Jack on 30th April, 7pm. This will also be an opportunity to meet and chat with Beci, as well as the committee.

Food will be available and a free drink. We look forward to seeing as many of you possible to support this evening.

Mark Player

Dear Players,

The next deadline for the WLTC Club Championships is Sunday 12th May All matches have now been updated on the online draws. We urge you to organise your matches as soon as possible, as the weather is still unpredictable and more and more matches will need to get played as the weeks progress. Please do not leave it until the last minute, as no extensions will be granted to anyone for any reason

Please note that Beci is away from Sunday 12th May, therefore all coin tosses and results MUST be recorded (either via email to Beci (competitions@active-tennis.co.uk) or written up on the score sheet). Any results not properly recorded will be subject to a coin toss, which will be done on Sunday 12th May @ 11pm It will be very difficult to make any changes to the online draws after this date as Beci will not have any access to emails, messages or phone calls.

If you have any issues contacting your opponent, please let Beci know in good time so she can help.

Tennis Ball Recycling Scheme Reminder:

4000 Balls were recycled in 2023 which was teh highest recorded for the club! Thank you to all our members who continue to recycle their used tannis balls, it's all for a good cause. Please see below for a reminder of our ball recycling scheme.

Recycaball
Company - Recycaball™ work closely with hundreds of clubs, coaches and players across the UK, offering the chance to recycle used tennis balls.

So many tennis balls end up in landfill once they've been used in competitions, and yet for most there's a perfectly good application for them in other areas once the match is won.

We collect hundreds of used tennis balls every week, and arrange for their redistribution into other industries and applications.

Clubs don't have to worry about disposal, and we pay for the collection, courier service and the actual balls themselves.

How it works..

Clubs, players & coaches contact us and request a recycling sack.

Once the club has collected enough used balls to fill a sack, we arrange courier collection from your preferred address.

We receive the balls, which are hand processed, graded, repackaged and redistributed.

Assuming the used balls meet our published standards, the club get paid for the balls that you've sent.

Charitable donations..

From some of the proceeds of the balls recycaball collect, they make regular donations to a wide variety of charities and good causes all across the UK.

These beneficiaries are chosen in main by the clubs, our network of suppliers, clubs & coaches.

Clubs can also elect to donate your ball proceeds directly to a charity, which we happily do on their behalf.

In addition, they donate some balls directly to local animal shelters, kennels and dog groups.

We post regular updates on our website, detailing the latest beneficiaries and any other news.

30 Minute Bookings - REMINDER

As mentioned in the recent Club Life February Newsletter, we have now made the following change to 30-Minute bookings:

You may now book 30-Minute slots in advanced, up to 48 hours only.
Previously, 30-Minute bookings have been permitted on the same day only.

Priority booking slots remain 60 & 90 minutes but our aim is to increase court availability, and avoid 30-Minute slots being wasted where possible. We will monitor this.

Where possible, please avoid leaving 30 minute gaps especially either side of your booking as it reduces the time available for other members.

Lost Property - REMINDER

This is a reminder to check the lost property box if you have lost any items.

Every month all items will be collected and donated to charity so please make sure you check as soon possible.

FYI - The lost property box is located in the corridor to the indoor courts.
