Court Usage - Winter Season
Dear Members,
The committee have been reviewing court usage and as we are now into the Winter Season and we anticipate the demand for courts (particularly the indoor courts) will naturally increase.
We would like to remind members of the following points which we believe will help all members;
Court Bookings - Reminders:
-
If you book an outside court and do not intend to use it, please cancel the court reservation as early as possible to enable other members to book it. The club will be closely monitoring members cancelling courts (for reasons other than weather) and will be noting those who do this frequently.
-
Indoor courts are in heavy demand, especially at peak times. Please be mindful when you are booking indoor courts – there is currently no cap on the number of bookings you can make but the committee will be closely monitoring usage through the winter, especially at peak times.
-
Avoid leaving 30 minute gaps when possible. Leaving 30 minute gaps can result in large amounts of wasted court time.
Club Sessions:
-
Don’t forget club sessions are available for members to join and take part. All information on club sessions and how to join them is included below. We run club sessions every week, and throughout the winter season, so it’s a great opportunity to get some quality court time and meet other members to play with.
Coaching Sessions & Groups:
-
Active Tennis run a variety of coaching sessions throughout the week which members can take part in – for information, cost, and how to join, see www.active-tennis.co.uk
-
Whether it’s adult group sessions, a private lesson, or cardio tennis – there are many options to suit all members and their ability levels. For more information please email Andy Mustill on andy.mustill@active-tennis.co.uk
-
The courts allocated for coaching has been reviewed by the committee. We are aware courts are popular after 6.30pm so to maximise availability we can confirm at present, coaching is restricted to 2 outdoor courts only, booked in advance, after 6.30pm. Coaches are permitted to book additional courts, at the last minute, should the courts be available and not booked by members.
Quiet Times – Off Peak/ Weekends:
-
Don’t forget, courts at quiet times such as mornings, weekends and ‘off peak’ slots are often available and easier to book. There are often many hours of ‘unbooked’ courts each week which are available to book up to the last minute. And don’t forget, indoor courts at ‘off peak times’ such as 7am-5pm weekdays are available at a reduced price. Sunday’s on the indoor courts are also available at a ‘super off peak’ price. Please keep an eye on MYCOURTS.
Extended Hours – Indoor Courts
-
Indoor Court access on Sunday evenings will soon be extended and available to book on MYCOURTS after the clubhouse has closed (18:00-22:00). The club will be upgrading the CCTV security system this month, once this project is completed and the necessary safety checks are carried out, we will open the extended hours and confirm to members with instructions how to access the indoor courts, for bookings made when the clubhouse is closed.
-
There will also be extended hours on the indoor courts for bank holidays and holiday periods which will increase court availability in the coming weeks and months. We are confident this will help members get court time through the winter.
The committee will be reviewing court usage each month, throughout the winter season. This includes club session court allocations and coaching allocations. We are committed to giving members the best opportunities to get court time through the winter, please make sure to help the club and our members by adhering to the points above, which will ultimately make the member experience much more enjoyable for all.
Best regards,
Jack Allan, Club Manager - On behalf of the WLTC Committee
-
Please note that court allocation may change during school holidays/tournaments or due to matches/events
-
The clubhouse may be closed or have restricted hours on Bank Holidays, however members can play on the outdoor courts on these days, at their own risk but no floodlighting will operate.
-
If you want to play in the Wednesday and Friday Club sessions – please email tennismanager@wltc.co.uk and the group organiser will get in touch with availability and information.
-
Other club sessions including Club Night, Club Sunday Morning, Junior Club Night are all ‘turn up and play’. Please be aware Club Night and Junior Club Night are ran by a coach.
-
For Team Practice (your captain will email you with a rota for this session if you play team tennis)
