Volunteers Needed!

Dear Members,

We’re really excited to share some wonderful news! WLTC has been selected to host a fantastic new initiative in partnership with the tennis charity Bright Ideas for Tennis, called “I Play 30” – and we’d love you to be part of it.

Find out more here: https://brightideasfortennis.org/iplay30/

What’s it all about?

‘I Play 30’ aims to make tennis accessible, welcoming, and fun for people with any form of disability. Each week, participants will come to the club to enjoy a friendly, supervised tennis session led by our coaching team – completely free of charge.

To make these sessions truly special, we’re looking for enthusiastic club members to help support and encourage the players on court. No coaching experience required – just a positive attitude and willingness to get involved!

The campaign is being led by former British Davis Cup player Danny Sapsford, now Manager at Bright Ideas for Tennis, and we’re absolutely thrilled to be working alongside him.

When will sessions run?

Thursdays, 14:30–15:30

Using 2 courts, outside

Start date: April (TBC)

This time has been carefully chosen to minimise any impact on members’ court time.

Volunteer training
To get everyone feeling confident and ready, there will be a free training session at the club on:

> Monday 16th February

> 3pm-6pm

> Indoor Courts

The training will be led by Danny Sapsford, or Mark Bullock/Stuart Wilkinson, who together bring over 25 years’ experience in disability sport. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills, meet great people, and make a real difference.

What’s the commitment?

Ideally, we’d love a pool of 10–12 volunteers, meaning you’d only need to help out around one week in every four (though you’d be very welcome to come more often!). This opportunity is perfect for:

- Anyone who enjoys helping others achieve their goals
- Anyone interested in disability sport
- Club members who want to give back and be part of something meaningful

Please note that we can only accept help from adults over the age of 18

This initiative will only succeed with the support of our club community, and we’d love to have you involved.

If you have any questions, please email Andy – andy.mustill@active-tennis.co.uk

If you are interested, please sign up at the bar – spaces are limited to a maximum of 15
